Sakari Alhopuro Foundation grants open for applications in February
Sakari Alhopuro Foundation’s grant application period for 2025 will open on 1 February and continue until the end of the month. In addition to grants for medical and environmental research, grants will also be awarded this year to artists for the first time. The Sakari Alhopuro Foundation supports high-quality scientific research and this year, for the first time, the Foundation will also be supporting artistic endeavours that have social impact. When awarding grants, the Foundation particularly favours those at the early stages of their careers.
Science grants are awarded to postdoctoral researchers conducting research in medical science and related fields, environmental research as well as research that advances biodiversity and environmental protection. The research may be multidisciplinary.
As part of the process of the application assessment, focus will be placed on the research topic and plan, as well as on previous research and the researcher’s possibilities to carry out their research.
Researchers can apply for project grants, personal research work grants or both at the same time. The total sum of the sought grant funding can be a maximum of EUR 60,000. It is also possible to apply for continued funding for ongoing research work.
Art grants will be awarded in 2025 for art and artistic projects dealing with climate change, the environmental crisis, the state of Finnish nature and nature conservation.
The application assessment will primarily emphasise goal-oriented approach and vision for the project.
The art grants will be awarded to projects that will result in, for example, a work of art, a presentation or an exhibition. Each grant awarded will total EUR 10,000.
The application shall be submitted through the Foundation’s online grant application service. Simply log in using the link found on the Foundation’s website. The detailed application criteria and instructions can be found on the website as well.
